Exhibitions and fairs, 2018
Philippe Chancel
from 20 to 23 December 2018 at the new Melanie Rio Fluency gallery space on the Ile de Nantes
This black and white series made in 1982 from Philippe Chancel's archives was first shown at Paris Photo 2016, then at the Multimedia Arts Museum in Moscow in 2017 and at the Barbican Centre in London and the Institute of Islamic Cultures in 2018.
Rune Guneriussen
exhibition from 22 to 25 November 2018
Rune Guneriussen's work revolves around two practices: installation and large-format chamber photography. Performance by Italian musician Tommaso Rolando and Croatian author Pavlica Bajsic, who devise a sound dramaturgy for each photo, based on a proposal by Trempolino, a platform for contemporary music.
from 8 to 11 November 2018 at the Grand Palais, stand A 03
The work on show is based around a photograph of a shop window displaying a light installation evoking a work by Dan Flavin. As a counterpoint to this image, works from three separate series adopt viewpoints that play with fragment and detail.
from 10 to 13 May 2018
Continuing her work with the gallery's artists, Melanie RIO FLUENCY presents an exhibition based around photography: Franck Gérard invites us on a stroll through the city of Los Angeles, Ambroise Tézenas offers a dreamlike approach to the city of Paris haunted by an impalpable human presence, while Patrick Tourneboeuf's Monoliths, remnants of the Second World War, collapse buried under sand and vegetation.
Based in Nantes in a former town house for 7 years, the gallery changed location and format in 2017 to develop new projects on the Ile de Nantes.
Since 2012, the gallery has also held exhibitions in Paris in its space in the 11th arrondissement. This space is now used as a showroom for fairs and one-off events.
